Abandoning us

She never apologized. She never said she was sorry. She was caring and empathic in how she conducted herself when she left. But she never said she was sorry. She never used the words. I do not think it was pride. I think she felt she was not doing anything wrong. I think she thought she was within her rights to pursue her own (selfish) happiness. I can not fault her for that. But I think I would have wanted to hear the words. I think I needed her to say she was sorry. Sorry for abandoning our dreams. Our years together. For abandoning us.
