There is this unique set of memories she holds close to her heart.
Confined to the attic of her weary brain, are memories of him.
Of course, no one will fault her if she let them go.
Still, she feels responsible for maintaining them.
She knows it does her no good;
that she needs to be brave and abandon them;
that it’s better to put them down and walk away;
so new ones can take root in their place.
But, there they are:
These worn-out thoughts, these stretched out hopes.
She prays for better days, that will never be.
Clinging on to every single memory.
