Forgetting is hard

And then you stop telling her that you loved her
because it brings her only pain.

And then you stop telling others
how much she meant to you,
because everybody needs to live
their own miserable lives.

And finally, you stop telling yourself,
for there’s only so much you can bear.

But your heart will not let go.
The love for her—
it will never forgo.
